Whereas there is existing in this Colony an epidemic of a very contagious nature which has already carried away a large mortality amongst the Chinese, averaging from 30 to 40 cases daily, cases frequently occurring in the same house and neighbourhood;

And whereas it is essential to the preservation of the life and health of the Chinese and European inhabitants that measures should be taken for preventing the spread of the disease;

And whereas this can only be done by the removal and isolation of the sick and the prompt burial of the dead;
